AMD 400 Series Chipset Leaked by PCI-SIG
We all know a new chipset will be coming out of AMD for the next set of Ryzen promises, it’s inevitable despite them promising the 300 series boards will support the new Ryzen chips. They still need to introduce new features to compete against Intel, even though the old chipsets will support the new Zen+ chips.
Lucky for us PCI-SIG just “leaked” some of the specs for the 400 series chipsets coming out of AMD likely in the 1st half of 2018. According to the PCI-SIG website AMD 400 series chipsets will support PCIe 3.0 at 8GT/s equivalent to PCIe 3.0 x4 for those more experience with lane count. This catches AMD up to what Intel is offering now in terms of onboard storage (or at least very near), a somewhat lackluster area of the 300 series chipsets (in fact this is why I went X399 TR4 instead of X370, storage options). No other info was given on the site, but it looks like the 400 series chipsets will be competitive with Intel’s offerings.
